How long does the Town of Angier retain public records?
How long does a request typically take?
- Under North Carolina law, the agency must respond to requests "as promptly as possible." The time it takes to complete a request depends on a variety of factors, including the breadth of the request, the volume of requests received by the agency, and document review time.
- Citizens are able to view the status of their request at anytime using the portal.
Why was my request denied?
- Town of Angier follows the provisions of Chapter 132 of the North Carolina State Statue.
- A public records request could be denied for several reasons, with most relating to the inability to release confidential information under state law or the fact that a requested record does not exist.
- Other records may not be maintained by the Town of Angier, in which you will be directed to a different agency/entity.
Why was information in my request redacted?
- Under state law, confidential information includes full or partial Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver's license numbers, the signature of a voter on a voter registration document, documents protected by the attorney-client privilege, and sensitive security information and trade secrets, among others.
- Confidential information will be redacted prior to release.
How can I obtain a physical copy of my request?
- Contact Town Clerk at (919)-639-2071 to request a physical copy of your request. Please note that in most cases, The Town of Angier does not mail records.
Does the Town of Angier charge a fee for public records?
- At this time, the Town of Angier does not charge fees for copies of public records.
What if my request contains physical media, such as an audio recording or video?
- A copy of the physical media will be put on a flash drive or sent via email as an attachment.
